Welcome to Merrimon-Wynne

What a big night for Raleigh! Donovan’s Dish was chosen to cater the exclusive Merrimon-Wynne grand opening, hosted by Jodi Strenkowski, owner of the The Merrimon-Wynne house. The ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off the night with Lt. Governor Dan Forrest. Located at 500 N. Blount Street and originally built in 1876, this historic masterpiece is now part of the Blount Street Commons in downtown, serving as a miraculous wedding and event venue. Jodi purchased the home in 2013 and restored it with her own personal touch. Hundreds of experts involved in the wedding industry, along with brides and any others who expressed interest in the venue, were invited to attend this thrilling event. How exciting!

A Winter Picnic

Wow, what a Winter Wonderland this was! Held at the American Tobacco Campus Full Frame Theater/Boiler Room in Durham, this Triangle NACE meeting was one for the books. The National Association for Catering and Events is made up of some of the Triangle’s most predominant event professionals in the industry. Their monthly meetings are not only educational, but they are networking productions. A very talented Joe Payne photographed the evening, capturing all of the excitement! Donovan’s Dish had the pleasure of taking part in this event, seamlessly catering to a winter picnic theme – just wait until you see all of the seasonal delights.

Whimsical Alice In Wonderland Wedding Inspiration

When bride Courtney expressed her desire to have a vintage Alice in Wonderland themed wedding reception her planner, Paula Bass, knew that Kyle Overby was the designer to fulfill her dream! Kyle is the head of Donovan’s Dish Floral and Design Team. He created the most enchanting, floral fantasy in the ballroom of downtown Raleigh’s Sheraton Hotel for Courtney and Nick.

Upon falling down the rabbit hole, into Kyle’s world, we first saw the most adorable table top arrangements complete with towering teacups, playing cards, vintage keys, pocket watches, and bird cages.

2013 AHA Chef’s Challenge

We have been on cloud nine at Donovan’s Dish this week! We were honored to be invited to the 2013 Chef’s Challenge benefiting the Triangle Heart Ball, an event hosted by Quintiles Headquarters in which our Chef TJ competed on September 24.  Chef TJ is the first non-restaurant chef to have competed in the challenge. He was up against 5 of the area’s top chefs and had to showcase a dish from his “heart”.

NACE Meeting at The Cookery

This summer Donovan’s Dish was asked to serve a dinner for a monthly NACE meeting. NACE, The National Association of Caterers and Events, is a wonderful association in which to be involved. Our Triangle chapter is made up of some AMAZING and incredibly talented people. We were thrilled to serve a dinner in the wedding and event industry. We wanted to show what Donovan’s Dish is all about.

All of our food is fresh, made from scratch, and we support local farmers as often as possible. Nothing is ever brought in frozen; it is prepared fresh for you and your guests. We are known for our quality of food as well as gorgeous presentations! We are a well oiled machine with a commitment to flawless execution!

The evening started with the DD team arriving to prep and set up. The Cookery staff, of course, made sure all of our servers got a little wine tasting before anything got started!
